The God Squad

I’m going to take a crack at The God Squad this week before TRA gets in there. Rarely in my life have I read such absolute twaddle. In reply to someone questioning the motivation of god in re the recent tsunami:
The Bible does record that the rebels who sought to depose Moses and God were consumed in an earthquake, but just because God used that technique once doesn't mean that every earthquake is God's punishment for the wicked. And how could any spiritually sensitive person worship a God who would kill children and other innocents?
Well precisely, your Holy Learnednesses. How could any person worship such a psychopath is certainly beyond me, and beyond many atheists.

They go on to make this completely outrageous statement, mystifyingly in answer to a reader’s question about the diversity of gods being prayed to worldwide:
Although there are many kind and loving atheists, history indicates that people who have hated religion also have hated some other group of people
I’m flummoxed.Where the hell did they drag this conclusion from? Even a surface reading of most of this sorry world’s history will show that it is in fact religion which divides, religion which encourages hatred between groups-else how would so many different sects and faiths still be with us.Intolerance is the domain, and necessarily so, of religion, not lack-of-religion.

Sure, we can be damned intolerant, crabby old women as atheists-but the point here is the identical one I made in my last post-we don’t have a damned omnipotent universe-creator justifying our intolerance

I ask you again: when was the last time a gang of Metaphysical Naturalists flew a plane into a building?
